A house of the Marthe et Marie Association was inaugurated in Rouen (Seine-Maritime) on Monday. It opened its doors downtown in late 2021, in a secret location. The association helps pregnant women in difficulty by offering a place to stay from the beginning of the pregnancy until the child’s first birthday, France 3 Normandy points out.
Eight roommates
Then they are helped in professional integration. Four expectant mothers live with four other young women aged 25 to 35 who are not pregnant. The latter promised to live there but they could continue their professional activities. “Volunteer […] They will live with the mothers to bring friendship”, explains the association. There is also an employee.
The house looks like a classic residence. It has eight bedrooms, three bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room, an office and a garden. There are currently two spaces available for mothers-to-be and one or two volunteers are wanted from September.
