Black week for cryptocurrencies: New exchange hacked for $4.8 million

The week is still young, but it will already unfortunately go down in history at the beginning of hacks, hacks and other collapses of all kinds. After the Nomad disaster and the rise of 190 million, and the compromise of thousands of Solana wallets (still in progress), we now learn that the ZB.com exchange suffered a $4.8 million hack.

Crypto platform ZB.com suffered a $4.8 million hack of its hot storage (hot wallet), according to a cyber security company PeckShield.

While customer withdrawals were halted yesterday, 20 different crypto-assets will be affected by this glitch. Hackers quickly diverted the funds to decentralized platforms to specifically convert them into ETH. Movements can be consulted at this address.

Rather little known, ZB Exchange (formerly CHBTC.com) is nevertheless one of the oldest platforms in the industry. No doubt the company of Chinese origin (and based in the country, until its forced eviction in 2017 thanks to funds from Beijing’s anti-crypto policies) would have done well without this sudden publicity.
