Blockchain and crypto, the other face of Biarritz

With the support of the Cluster Pays Basque Digital and more than a hundred actors, on May 4, 2020, the Basque Country was able to obtain the French Tech label and at the same time integrate this large community. An initiative that aims to strengthen and expand the ecosystem of startups present in the region by developing events and projects designed for and with entrepreneurs.
“The Basque Country is a country of values, tradition and innovation. So we are in fertile territory that is connected to the earth. It is a great honor that the French technological country of the Basque Country will strive to create a “community” dynamic that encourages positive innovation to give meaning to the economic growth of businesses in the territory.” supports the French Tech Pays Basque collective.
After this integration, Biarritz therefore he rode the wave of technology, in order to develop local innovations. Although the first initiatives are not new, such as Izarbel Technology Park (founded in 1995) consisting of incubators, several laboratories and almost a hundred companies, start-up companies in the region are now part of a real ecosystem that wants to shine both nationally and internationally.
It was with this goal in mind that he decided to found the French Tech Pays Basque summer partnership with Galeries Lafayette in Biarritz. Goal? Introduce local startups and their products to the general public.
Among the promising sectors in which beginners are positioning themselves in the Basque Country, we find, without too many surprises: surfing. And those who have chosen this path are promising, such as Wyve and its custom surfboards made by 3D printing, Salty Design and its furniture inspired by the world of surfers or the experience offered by Virtual Surf, a virtual reality simulator of the best waves on Earth. Suffice it to say that the assets that make up the reputation of the Basque Country and Biarritz have inspired entrepreneurs!
