Electric Renault of the future until 2025

On Renault’s electric program for the coming years: the revival of the Scenic as well as the return of the R5 and 4L.

It turns out, Renault will be a 100% electric brand in Europe from 2030. The range will therefore be reversed in a few years! However, after the arrival of the electric Megane, we have to wait for the next big news, projects that were born or reviewed with the arrival of Luca di Meo in mid-2020. Designing a car takes time. The most anticipated project, the electric R5, will thus be ready in early 2024. Automobile Propriet takes stock of the progress made.

Renault Traffic e-Tech – 2023

Canggu Vans and Masters have been electric for a few years now. Curiously, Traffic still doesn’t own it. But it will be fixed soon. Renault is preparing a trendy version of its mid-size utility vehicle, which should be ready by the end of 2022, ahead of the launch of the ambitious electric Ford Transit Custom. Renault should have 60 and 90 kWh batteries.

Renault Scenic – 2024

Forget what you know about cynics! In 2024, the king of compact MPVs will be an electric SUV! The model was announced by a concept car, which was unveiled in the spring of 2022. The prototype will have the exterior design of the production version. So it would mark a turning point at Renault, with angular shapes, very Peugeot. Logic: This is cynic The work of Gilles Vidal, who was the head of the lion style for ten years!

The technique will be borrowed from Megan E-Tech. Built on the CMF-EV platform, the compact was launched with 130 or 220 hp engines and 40 or 60 kWh batteries. We expect a larger battery, with an 87 kWh one seen in the Nissan Aria. Logically, this view will be distinguished from the Megane by a better sense of welcome: more space in the back, extended boot… The concept is 4.49 meters in length, 28 cm longer than the Megane.

Renault 5 – 2024

With this model, Renault is testing your patience. 5 prototype concept was unveiled in early 2021, but the brand immediately announced that the production version will be launched in 2024! We still hope to discover it before the end of 2023. We promise, the production model will be closer to concept.

With this new R5, Renault is going neo-retro, but with futuristic motorization. The car will be electric only. He will take Joe’s place. This R5 will use a modified version of the CMF-B platform used by the Clio (and renamed CMF-BEV), so adapted to electrics.

This R5 will want to play at two tables: an accessible entry-level electric vehicle, with a small motor and small battery, and to be a more stylish general-purpose model, a high-performance configuration with a 100 kW block. , manufactured at Cleon, and ranged up to 400 km. The car will be built in Douai, France.

Renault 4L – 2025

A double dose of neo-retro. Along with the R5, the 4L will also return! The two projects were launched by Luca Di Meo, boss of Losange for two years… and who was behind the revival of the Fiat 500. Bring down entry-level prices, this role being delegated to the Dacia Spring within the group.

It will differ from the R5 by more practical aspects and a more adventurous look. But the main line will therefore be inspired by the original model. We’ll get a taste of this car thanks to a concept car presented this fall at the Paris Motor Show. Renault has already announced that there will be a utility version of this electric 4L, again with a silhouette inspired by the old one.

What next?

In 2025, Renault will have a full range of electric vehicles for the B (city car) and C (compact) segments. The following is necessarily a model placed above. At this level, nothing is indicated. But we can imagine a big SUV. If Renault dares a new silhouette, why not a four-door coupe! Technically, Diamond could await the arrival of solid batteries, which Nissan is working on.
