Sean Connery’s James Bond Aston Martin DB5 sells for $2.4 million

Sean Connery will forever be synonymous with the Aston Martin DB5 featured in his James Bond films, but he’s only owned it once.
Connery bought the 1964 DB5 in 2018, two years before his death at age 90.
“Dad used to talk about owning his own DB5 for no other reason than he loved cars, and looking back I think it represents something special in his life and a beautiful moment in time,” Connery’s son Jason said. Before the car was sold at the Broadbow Auction in Monterey, California.
The car was in good shape, but when Connery bought it, it was painted black, so he painted it a shade of snow gray to match the one he drove on film.
“Driving the movie cars, he told me that with all the gadgets, especially the machine guns on the front, they made the car very front-heavy and it was hard to turn at low speeds, so it was fun to drive without the gadgets,” Jason said. Connery.
“He liked how balanced it was. Dad said he was waiting for the ejection seat!!
The car had a pre-auction estimate of $1.4-1.8 million, but the winning bidder paid $2,425,000, which included a chauffeured ride for Formula 1 legend Jackie Stewart, a Scotsman and longtime friend of Connery’s.
A portion of the proceeds are donated to the Sean Connery Philanthropy Fund, which has supported various charities over the years.
“I hope you enjoy my website. While you’re here, I ask that you take a moment to help someone else,” Connery wrote before his death.
