The next James Bond will be young.
Finally, no gender or ethnic change for the next Bond, but a younger identity.
It seems confirmed today, that James Bond will return to the big screen, possibly for a new trilogy, as reported by columnist Ross King at IGN. The studios are looking for a new actor to play British secret agents. Many names have been thrown around in recent years. In the long run, there will be no gender or ethnic change. On the other hand, the new bond will be much smaller.
“The latest rumor – and it’s mostly true – is that producers are looking for a much younger Bond.” explained Ross King. “The actor is currently in his thirties. They want to find someone to sign for the next three films. They want someone like Daniel Craig who has been playing the character for years.“
Many names have been floated in recent years: Tom Hardy, Idris Elba or even James Norton were offered to portray James Bond. According to the production, no actor was selected.
“There is no script yet. It will be a remake of James Bond. We’re going to rethink who he is and it’s going to take time. I’d say the shooting of the first movie can’t be delayed for at least two years,” said Barbara Broccoli, one of the franchise’s producers, recently. In other words, it’s going to take (a lot of) patience before 007 gets on the big screen.
